“For unto which of the Angels said he at any time, Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be my son? Hebrews 1:5
What does it mean to be a Father? The word Father has many meanings like chief, ruler, leader, or elder. It has been given as a title of respect. A Father is the author; the beginning of anything is also called the Father. If it were not for our Fathers we would not be! Today is a day that we give respect to the author of our life. Jesus is the author of our life first, and then our Fathers here on earth. The title of “Father” is applied to God as in “God the Father” Our Father who art in heaven” and so on. “Looking unto Jesus the Author and finisher of our faith.” Who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:2
Our Fathers have gone before us and have led the way, gave the example, made it possible, encouraged and loved us. For this we honor our Fathers today.
Honor your Father today, God has used him to be your beginning and lead the way!
